Resilient Minds On The Front Lines and Beyond

Building unshakeable resilience; mental wellness strategies for everyone.

Overview

The Resilient Minds Training Program was created by a team of experts in their fields who not only teach resiliency, but live and practice it daily. Our team is comprised of resiliency practitioners, trainers, corporate executives, educators, psychologists, behavioral therapists, retired and active law enforcement, medical professionals, lawyers, chaplains, business professionals and retired and active military personnel, some of whom led the implementation of resiliency programs into their respective services and across the Department of Defense.

At RMOTFL&B, we teach and endorse the famous quote by Maya Angelou, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” The Resilient Minds Training Program embraces the fundamental principles established in the PERMA model of well-being developed by former President of the American Psychology Association, Dr. Martin Seligman (Positive emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment). Combined with a focus on self-awareness, this leads to enhanced self-management skills for an individual, and, as one learns more about themselves and more about resiliency, they achieve an exponential increase in well-being. They also become much more aware of their personal “triggers” allowing them to implement self-regulating, intervention tools early in the downward spiral process (well before crisis). Our approach and curriculum has been successfully taught to the first responder community, law enforcement community (national and local), and application has extended beyond these communities to include schoolteachers, chaplains, administrators, high school students, behavioral therapists, administrative assistants, homemakers, doctors, psychologists, lawyers, workers, dispatchers, evidence technicians, current and former members of the armed forces, and families members of municipal workers. The Resilient Minds Training Program facilitates students through straightforward adult learning techniques that trains students to “remind, reframe, and rewire” their thought process. Another great result of this program is that students not only learn to help themselves, now they also become beacons of light, enabling those around them (family, friends, coworkers) to be more resilient! It has been our experience that once students learn the resiliency tools, they use them well beyond the training affording them the opportunity to grow every day. The resiliency tool kit becomes a part of everyday life and affects how students perceive and respond to the world.

The lessons taught in this training are universal and therefore transcend the many distinct groups who make up a culture of an organization. This would include executive level personnel, middle-managers, and the rank-and-file workers of the organization. These principles also help adults, children and adolescents recognize and overcome adverse childhood experiences (ACES). The Resilient Minds principles apply equally across all ranks, ages, and experience. Resiliency, leadership, and communication skills taught in the course will equally help executive level personnel, mid-level management, and the rank-and-file workers at work and at home. These concepts are proven to increase job satisfaction, increase engagement and improve focus which equates to a higher level of “purpose,” directly countering depression, isolation, self and family destruction, addiction, and suicide. Indeed, studies demonstrate that those companies and organizations which adopt a resilient model that focuses on the strengths of their employees increase productivity by 63% over those groups who have not adopted a similar program. Individuals who incorporate resiliency techniques taught in the RMOTFL&B curriculum into their daily lives are more balanced, happier, and better equipped to overcome life’s obstacles. It has been our experience that universal principles taught in the full program increase job satisfaction, engagement both at work and home, and focus. The tools provided and the lessons learned through the Resilient Minds program will guide and provide a platform for the individual to find their purpose and develop their “Why” at home and at the workplace.

The Resilient Minds On The Front Lines & Beyond online program is designed to equip first responders, military personnel, corporate leaders, and everyday individuals with the tools needed to strengthen their mental wellness and build resilience in the face of adversity.

Intentional Responses

The Pause or the ABC+DE model offers a powerful way to shift negative thoughts into positive ones by encouraging you to hit the ‘pause button’ or ‘stop sign,’ allowing for a mindful reassessment of the situation through a structured process of awareness, belief examination, and positive reframing.

Goals

Setting goals using a simple acronym provides a clear, structured approach that enhances focus, motivation, and accountability, making it easier to stay on track and achieve your desired outcomes.

Spirituality

Strengths

“Focusing on strengths rather than weaknesses can transform the dynamic of a conversation. Replacing the word ‘but’ with ‘now’ shifts the narrative from limitation to possibility, fostering a more positive and solution-oriented dialogue.

The Resilient Person

Understanding past traumas, such as those identified through the ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) framework, allows you to reframe and heal from these experiences, empowering you to approach current challenges with a healthier, more resilient mindset. Learning how our brains work is key to understanding our reactions, and creating new pathways to happiness and joy.
